The Basics Name: Danae Age: 33 Pronouns: she/her Country: American expat in Norway
The New Year Do you have any resolutions?: I have goals I'd like to reach this year, including more skiing/kayaking, using all of my vacation days, finding a new creative activity/group to join, and continue settling into my apartment here. Are there any new books, music, games, shows, etc. that you want to dive into?: I manage a book club for international women so I am always looking for new reads to suggest. Personally I enjoy fantasy/science fiction, mystery/thriller, and memoirs the most. Are there any small or big events that you're planning for this year?: Yes, my big dream trip to Australia which I hope I can make happen this year. I'm also actively dating after my long term relationship ended over the summer and would like to find a partner -- I want to put roots down and start a family in the near future after all. Any new interests/hobbies that you'd like to try out?: I will try a few meetings with a local choir that my colleague invited me to, and/or want to pick up where I left off with audiobook narrating. Did you accomplish your resolutions from last year?: I did for the most part! I failed at writing a first draft of my horror novel, but I did manage to start it, as well as to form a writing group. Everything else was a success. What were your favorite memories from the past year?: All of my travels, visiting home in the US, making my community stronger here and having an active social life, working hard at my job. Do you have any new years traditions?: Not usually. I spent this past NYE at home sick. Is there anything you'd like to do more of in 2023?: More travel, more parties and time with friends, more film festivals, more speaking Norwegian and assimilating into the culture here.
The New Friends What kind of friend(s) are you searching for?: People who update enough to give an overview of their external and internal worlds. I only update a few times per month, but they tend to be longer ones so you know about all areas of my life. I'd really like friends who want to connect as I've been on LJ and DW cumulatively since I was 15 years old. What do you like to read about?: Everyday life, personal development, interpersonal relationships, family life, pets, hobbies, cooking, etc. I'm not as interested in hearing about fandom stuff or reading fanfiction. How often do you check your friends feed?: I read it constantly, though I might not always have something to say in a comment. Do you have any deal-breakers?: Like most people here, I am left-leaning and progressive on political and social issues. Do you mind reading about fandom?: It's not something I am looking for at this time, but if we have some nerdy interests in common like Harry Potter that can be overlooked. If so, what fandoms would you like to read about?: Science fiction/fantasy related books and TV shows perhaps.
Currently... Reading: Dog Park by Sofi Oksanen Watching: I am in between shows at the moment, but I might start Wednesday soon. Just finished the Harry and Meghan documentary which was well done. Playing: I'm not a gamer (although I can have fun with board games/tabletops/D&D) Thinking about: My love life Hobby/Interest: Managing the book club, figuring out where to fit in everything else this year that I'd like to do Planning for: A new gym/fitness routine
Hello! I’m also an expat (Italian living in the UK) and I’m always interested in reading about people’s experiences living somewhere different from their country of origin. Plus, I think we might have interests in common. Friends?
Adding you so you can take a look at my journal before you decide, but I'm a British immigrant to Norway, moved 5 years ago, and also working on my Norsk.
How nice! You are the second expat I've 'met' today who lives in Norway. Would love to get more of a 'life in Norway' fix. In return you'll get daily long-winded posts about my life in retirement.

When dating with permanence in mind, it helps to talk about deep topics if you find a promising partner. Also if you enjoy intimacy it's pretty hawt.

Every little bit helps.

I post daily about all kinds of stuff, from writing to birdfeeding.
