In my head, it sounds like "ey," like "ey/em/eirs," but I also know people who pronounce it "ash," which is what the ligature is called? Honestly, most people used "she" for me out loud, which is fine. The only other person I know who uses æ also has multiple sets of pronouns so I know I use ær other pronouns when talking about ær out loud.

I only just saw this comment, thanks for elaborating. Pronouncing it like "ey" makes sense to me.
