Still Here

Hey everyone! Just poking in to say there will be a new friendzy soon. Life has been busy (garage sale setup) and work has been stressful. I've had no energy after work. Not much else to this post, however I will ask, would you like to participate in a Spring-themed friendzy or a multi-fandom friendzy? I was reluctant on the multi-fandom because I didn't know if there was much interest in fandom, so just thought I'd ask to see :D

I'm in particular not into fandom, but I'm definitely so down for a spring themed one!

I'd go for the spring friendzy myself.

I would prefer the Spring theme, considering I am not a fandom person :)

I would go with Multi-fandom since Three Weeks for Dreamwidth is about to open, and it includes a lot of fannish activity. However, I see that several other folks favor the Spring theme.

There's no reason you couldn't do both ...

Intro Section
* Name
* Blog topic(s)
* Posting frequency
* Are you doing Three Weeks for Dreamwidth, and if so, how?
etc.

Spring Section
* Is it spring yet in your part of the world?
* What's blooming near you?
* What are your favorite spring activities?
* Do you have any spring photos to share?
etc.

Multi-fandom Section
* Which do you favor? Fandom Is a Way of Life / Fandom Is Just a Goshdarn Hobby / Fandom Is Not My Thing
* What are some of your favorite fandoms? (books, movies, TV, music, sports, etc.)
* How do you participate in your fandoms? (watch canon, read fanworks, create fanworks, etc.)
* What fannish content do you put on your blog?
etc.

Three Weeks for Dreamwidth (April 25-May 15) is a celebration of the platform. It usually makes a spike in activity, since the core way of participating is to post material only on Dreamwidth. Some folks post every day, others concentrate on making several new anchor posts, and so on. Communities often have an activity like a rec week or challenge.

Last year's introductory post is here.

This year's gather post is now up, already with several links to activities. I'll add more as I find them. Many will first appear today or tomorrow.

>> Thanks for the suggestions! Will be putting them to use.<<

You're welcome! I'm happy I could help.

>> I agree with the sentiment "Why not both?" so I think I will,<<

>> I know there's still a fandom side to DW, I'm just unsure of where to promote it to bring more in for it. <<

Fandom is a huge part of DW. Fannish activities may be promoted through communities such as [community profile] fandomcalendar and [community profile] fandom_on_dw. You can post every fannish friendzy you ever make on those communities, and they have tons of readers. If you ever do a fandom-specific friendzy, there are also dedicated communities for major fandoms like Harry Potter and Star Trek, some of which catalog activities in their fandom.

During Three Weeks for Dreamwidth, use the "threeweeks" tag to make a post appear in the feed so more folks can see it. Topic is irrelevant, all content posted April 25-May 15 is eligible. You could post about it on [community profile] 3weeks4dreamwidth too. Lots of folks are posting their activities there.

You can also promote your community and its friending memes during the other big DW events when more people are active. Next up will be [community profile] sunshine_challenge in July, which posts prompts for creative activities. Then there is [community profile] snowflake_challenge in January, which is basically a gigantic friending fest with fannish content thrown in.

However, not everyone is interested in fandom and it's good to have other options. You can promote your community, including its friending memes, on [site community profile] dw_community_promo. Established communities may promote once a month. You can advertise anything on [community profile] promote or [community profile] promoting.

Then there are all the topical communities. Many are happy to get announcements about activities related to their themes. The previous Fall Friendzy would've been apt for [community profile] common_nature and if you do a bird one that could go on [community profile] birdfeeding. Take your friendzy theme and run it through the Interests page to see if there are relevant communities. [community profile] reddit_refugees is for newcomers, so friending memes are always suitable there.

So if you rotate your friendzy themes, you can advertise them in different places, and new people will see them.

I'd like a spring-themed one, since you can do a fandom one at any time of the year but a ~fresh start~ spring theme might be nice for adding new people :) Thanks for your efforts!
