The New Year
Do you have any resolutions?: Read 100 books, recover from COVID, get 1000 subscribers on Youtube, reach Master Level 30 in Tetris Effect, make more harp recordings, make more cosplays and plan more cosplay photoshoots, write more stories, improve my drawings, ...
Are there any new books, music, games, shows, etc. that you want to dive into?: Not specifically.
Are there any small or big events that you're planning for this year?: Maybe travel? If possible.
Any new interests/hobbies that you'd like to try out?: Maybe cross-strung harp...
Did you accomplish your resolutions from last year?: I read 93 books instead of the planned 100, but I still have 10 books in progress, so I started more than 100 books! Didn't take the JLPT N1 yet, but maybe I can do that this year. I did achieve my drawings resolutions, but I did catch COVID unfortunately :(
What were your favorite memories from the past year?: I found out how to record a harp so it sounds the same on the recordings as in real life :)
Do you have any new years traditions?: Eating oliebollen and watching fireworks.
Is there anything you'd like to do more of in 2023?: See my resolutions :P

The New Friends
What kind of friend(s) are you searching for?: People who comment every once in a while at least.
What do you like to read about?: Real life stuff, books, games, music.
How often do you check your friends feed?: A few times per week.
Do you have any deal-breakers?: Not really, I think...
Do you mind reading about fandom?: I don't mind reading about fandom.
If so, what fandoms would you like to read about?: No real preferences. Maybe I'll discover something new and interesting if I don't know it yet :)

Hey there, Moon!

My reply is on the second page, in case you are interested, but I wanted to ask you whether you'd like to be friends on here? If not, that is totally fine, of course. :) No hard feelings then.

My name is Rina. I am 38 years old, living in Germany, I LOVE the Japanese language and I admire your skill for wanting to try at the JLPT N1. Also, kudos to you for playing the koto (I used to be part of an orchestra in which somebody played the koto sometimes, it sounds so lovely!!). To me, it sometimes was a bit confusing, so I chose to play the hichiriki. Did you study music or Japanese by any chance? Either way, have a lovely rest of the day. Hope you had a good start into the new year, and that this one will bring you all the things you desire~!!

I just read your comment and it sounds like at least a few of our interests overlap :) So yes!

Where did you start playing the hichiriki? It looks like an interesting instrument, but I've never had the chance to try it out.
I started playing koto, because I was living in Japan (during an exchange) and I hadn't brought my harp with me. Then the music teacher at a nearby elementary school was looking for people to join her koto group for a performance, and because they knew I played harp, they asked me to join. Part of the performance was recorded.

Awww, I am currently listening to the recording :)! How lovely it sounds! ^^ I studied at the University of Cologne (musicology + Japanese studies), and even though I didn't finish my degree, I still think back at it a lot. Part of the orchestras offered there was a Gagaku ensemble, I tried to learn more about Gagaku, got to try out some instruments, and I liked the hichiriki best :), so I stuck to it for the rest of my studies. ^^
