It's fall here. Harvest is well underway. The first leaves are starting to turn. Fall migration is beginning for birds and monarch butterflies. Interested in birds, birdfeeding, and their migration? You might like birdfeeding.

I love autumn. I also love winter. It's cool enough for me to do things outside then.

Are there any fall-time events you want to go to or have been to:
Sadly, the idiots who took over the Broomcorn Festival cut Friday from the schedule. We found this out when we arrived to find no festival and the entire town fuming. :/

Do you have any favorite fall-time drinks or specialty foods that you enjoy:
We always get apple cider from an award-winning orchard nearby. It's not quite ready yet but should be any day now.

What's your favorite thing about fall:
I love so many things! The cooling weather, colored leaves, chrysanthemums, smell of mud and fallen leaves and woodsmoke, flavors of all the winter squashes, sound of wind in the corn. :D

Do you have any specific fall attire that you enjoy wearing:
Corduroy when I can find some that fits, cableknit sweaters or cardigans, flannel shirts. I have a T-shirt with a black cat by a stack of books.

Do you have any favorite memories associated with autumn:
Going to orchards -- we used to visit one that made funnelcakes. I'm also partial to pressing leaves between waxed paper.

Are there any hobbies that you participate more in during autumn:
It's harvest season, so I'm picking the last herbs and things from my garden, and I'll be planting bulbs for spring flowers whenever those arrive. It's also a season good for hiking, if we have time to get out on a nice day.

Do you celebrate Halloween at all:
More Samhain than Halloween, though we're doing Dia de los Muertos as a theme this year. We have two panderias nearby and I'm determined to take advantage of their probable offerings.

If yes to above, do you have a favorite costume/cosplay that you wore and/or made:
It's been a while since I dressed up like that. I think the last was the "Come As You Aren't" party where I went as a nun.

Do you have any autumn traditions:
Setting up birdfeeders if I haven't run them all summer (this year the birds kept coming so I kept feeding them). Getting corn for the squirrels. Buying cider and apples at the orchard -- the cider's not ready yet but we picked up our first acorn squash of the season. We usually take a day out to drive around after I finish my big summer writing project.

Other fans or Pagan folks are fun. I like looking at photos and artwork if anyone posts a lot of that.

What do you like to read about:
I enjoy speculative fiction, poetry, nature, science news, and anything that might be considered a "fan magnet."

What do you dislike reading about:
Fandom policing, trying to tell other people what to do, health, political screaming matches. I'm so out of patience with the obnoxious brawl that society is turning into. Just ... don't be a dick.

How often do you check your friends feed:
Erratically. It depends on when I have time. Often I'll ignore it for days or weeks, then use it to alternate with some project and scroll through several days of posts all at once.

Anything else you'd want people to know: Going back in 𝟚𝟘𝟙𝟝, I met Misha Collins during a convention in Toronto. He left me very cold in the heart. He did not seem too happy or pleased to be there. He did not even talk to me asking what pose I wanted, etc. The other celebrity for the photo was Mark Sheppard and he did all the talking. From 𝟚𝟘𝟙𝟜 to 𝟚𝟘𝟙𝟡, I had the chance to meet Jared Padalecki four times. I had my first one in New Jersey. My very first trip to the United States too. I never felt this kind of passion for any celebrity before Jared. Yes I had a lot of celebrity crushes [who did not] but when I first met Jared, everything felt different. From the moment that we shared our first hug, I felt that I had met that man before. I mean yes, I saw him on television first, but I mean before I got into the fandom. I felt like I truly knew him. Jared is the sweetest guy ever. He has made some mistakes but who does not? I will always have his back. I love him with all of my heart and with all of my soul. I know that he is married and he is a Dad. I am not the crazy one who want to hurt his family. I am a nice fan who want to protect him from haters and enjoy my hugs with him when I have the chance to. I know that each person is titled to an opinion. And it can differ from the other person. What I mean, I am going to forever stand behind Jared. You can share a like for him, a dislike for him, anything. But do not ever pretend to not take a side, while you clearly are. From now on, any new friend, I will venture on the profile before granting access. If you are ever friends with people who gave me problems in the past, you will not be added. If you push me into adding you, I am going to do a block. No matter how many usernames you will use to foul me, it is not going to work. Is Autumn your favorite season? If not, which one is: Summer and Autumn are. Both winter and early spring chill me to the bone too much for me to enjoy them. Even then, as I grow older, Summer is starting to heat me up too much, but I still love swimming and that's why I enjoy summer lol.

Are there any fall-time events you want to go to or have been to: My Hubby and I weren't able to make it this year, but I wanted to go to Oktoberfest, as a way to celebrate my German heritage. However! The Maple Leaf Festival is coming soon and I want to try to attend that, given we have extra funds to go.

Do you have any favorite fall-time drinks or specialty foods that you enjoy: Pumpkin Spice lattes and pumpkin pie lol. Otherwise, there aren't really any I can think of, though I suppose thanksgiving turkey falls into that category too :D

What's your favorite thing about fall:Many things! 1, I enjoy oversized hoodies/sweaters and I practically live in leggings so the weather cooling down means I can start wearing hoodies again! 2, Lower temperatures, in general, are easier on my body since I hate being sweaty and excessively running the AC lol. It makes walks much more enjoyable. And finally 3, Foliage! I love seeing the leaves turn red, yellow and orange. It's calming in a sense. I enjoy both graphic design and drawing, so I very much love the autumn color palette.

Do you have any specific fall attire that you enjoy wearing: Hoodies, sweaters and leggings! Boots too!

Do you have any favorite memories associated with autumn: One specific one that stands out is when hubby and I started dating, around fall time is when we went on our second date. We went to the city to buy Pokemon cards hehe. I can't remember fully how many we bought, but it's one of our favorite things to look back on since opening multiple packs of cards was one of the many things we bonded over.

Are there any hobbies that you participate more in during autumn: Walks, since it's tolerable to be outside and not come back to the house feeling icky all over. Otherwise, hobbies and frequency of doing them doesn't change much.

Do you celebrate Halloween at all: Yes and no. Not in the sense of giving out candy but more in the sense of dressing up in halloween-themed clothing and then on halloween itself, dressing up as something I'm normally not.

If yes to above, do you have a favorite costume/cosplay that you wore and/or made: *ashamed tone* No I never completely finished a cosplay. My ADHD brain couldn't fully stay on task every day for it. That goes to say for everything I work on. Anything that I've worn for Halloween has kind of been meh to me. However, this year, Hubby and I bought a Vodka/Seltzer costume for couples and we're gonna wear that to work on halloween lol.

Do you have any autumn traditions: Not really, but I want to make some things a tradition, such as sitting on the patio with Hubby as we enjoy hot cocoa and decorating on the first day of fall. Hah, I kind of already did one of those (decorating), but given our work schedule, I will have to finish it next weekend *sads*

Do you have any fall-themed playlists: No, but it's something I've wanted to do. After our garage sale is over, I will have more time to do random things like that.

What kind of friend(s) are you searching for: Understanding and supportive friends. I don't really have any feminine friends irl outside of work so I want to look for those here! I also want to befriend those I have things in common with so I'll put hobbies and what not under the "anything else" section of this!

What do you like to read about: Life, about you, video games, and hobbies. Surveys and question memes are fun to read and to answer in my own posts :D

What do you dislike reading about: Politics (it's already depressing enough so I try to avoid it as best I can). I don't like reading posts about hate and attacks on others. Being annoyed with someone and posting about it is one thing, but extreme hate is another and is one I don't care to read.

How often do you check your friends feed: It hasn't been much lately since starting a new job has thrown me out of wack (I flipped my sleep schedule around, less time off, etc), but since I've gotten more into the swing of things, I will be back on much more, so probably every other day if not every day.

Do you like to talk to your friends outside of DW? Yes, mainly on discord. I'm odd with it a bit though because I like to make sure we click as friends before I give out my username on discord. I have traded phone numbers with a friend before so I'm open to that, I just want to trust you first and I completely sympathize if you're like that too. That said, we don't have to trade numbers at any point. That's completely fine :D

Do you have any deal-breakers: Extreme conservative-ism, trumpism, the inconsiderate, racism, anti-lgbtqia, inconsiderate drivers, sexism, gate-keeping, policing, "my ship is better than your ship"-types etc. One other thing is those who do friend cuts only after a month of being on each others friends list. It's kind of an odd thing to put here, but it does hurt a bit when I've been on a short hiatus, because life happened, only to come back and new friends have cut me. Please don't add if you do friend cuts like that. Please bare with me if I have to take a short hiatus for life reasons or even mental health reasons.

Does your journal contain adult content: Adult themes do come up sometimes and occasionally I may draw things that may be NSFW (mainly just sexy times between two characters), but I will ALWAYS put them behind cut. I do quite enjoy M/F and M/M. I'm not against F/F, it's just not been something I've drawn much.

Anything else you'd want people to know: I love video games and bonding over them so things I play include Skyrim, Minecraft, Animal Crossing (the series and Pocket Camp), core Pokemon series (SwSh, ScarVio, etc, including GO), Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077 and Pikmin (series and Bloom) are my main ones! It's a plus if you like modding open world RPGs! I imagine Baldur's Gate 3 will make it's way to this list at some point haha. Starfield left us low on funds so we couldn't buy both. Also, some Hobbies including writing, drawing, sewing, graphic design and coding :D

I'm the same, I'm not fond of summer for this reason, it gets too damn hot and humid and once the weather starts cooling down it's a relief. I don't have to run my two fans and the A/C consistently. When it gets too cold I can just add layers, but when it gets too hot? What else can you do?

I think we're all in the same boat with this one. Autumn/winter are the perfect seasons for cozy clothing! The combinations and layers! And Halloween especially, I love anything Halloween-themed. I like to collect anything spooky related clothing to wear throughout most of October, and of course on Halloween dressing up. Even if I go absolutely nowhere, I enjoy dressing up.

I never understood that trend, to be honest. I haven't seen it here on DW (maybe I'm just following the right people), but I saw it a lot more frequently back in during my LJ days. I always found it odd and really disheartening seeing those kinds of posts. It made it seem like being an online friend was a chore, y'know? Especially since it would often be accompanied with the "comment on this post if you're still active so I won't cut you" and with a time frame for that to occur, and it always left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Life happens sometimes. I've kept people on my flist who haven't updated for years because what if they come back one day? So yeah, I feel you on that one.

The love of autumn aside, we share similar things in common, fannish/fandom interests, and I definitely love doing question memes and talking about whatever current interest I'm into, and connecting with others through those interests. Friends?

There are lots of neurovariant folks on here. For some it's casual, for others a thing they blog about regularly. I learned very quickly that writing references should come from trait-having people rather than "official" sources because the latter are often wrong and the former will tell you all about why. On the bright side, it means that trait-having blogs are full of good ideas on how to work with the body/mind you have, rather than trying to make it into something it's not.

Is your region approaching fall? If not, what season are you in: Yes! We do get the 4 traditional seasons here, though it'll probably take another month for fall weather to stick.

If not, which one is: Until recently, I would've said Winter is my favorite: I love snow, I love the quietude, I am a fiend for cold air, I love the darkness, I love winter! But I honestly have been enjoying this summer, heat & all, and my skin looks & feels better in summer + I prefer to run around barefoot, and I love the frogs and the bugs ... so I dunno, maybe I don't have a solid favorite right now. They all have good vibes.

Is your region approaching fall? If not, what season are you in: Yes, slowly. It's still quite warm for this time of the year, but the weather has turned last weekend.
Is Autumn your favorite season? If not, which one is: Absolutely yes. I love everything about it - the chilly morning air, the colours, the smell of spices, the seasonal produce, the holidays. I'm a real autumn baby (literally, my birthday is in November)! I also do love summer on the Mediterranean sea, where I grew up - I feel it's a big part of my identity. But, I absolutely loathe the heat anywhere else.
Are there any fall-time events you want to go to or have been to: Not been to any yet, but I love to spend evenings in cosy pubs with open fireplaces, go for walks around the big parks in the city that get covered in beautiful foliage, going to Halloween-themed events. I just booked a Halloween tour of one of the allegedly most haunted theatres in the world and I'm so excited - I love ghost tours because they're such a fun way of learning about the history of places, which I enjoy more than the actual paranormal element (I'm actually quite sceptical about all that).
Do you have any favorite fall-time drinks or specialty foods that you enjoy: I love pumpkin risotto and pumpkin focaccia.
What's your favorite thing about fall: Fundamentally, I love the feeling on life slowing down and the sense of cosiness.
Do you have any specific fall attire that you enjoy wearing: Warm autumn colours happen to suit me really well, so I go nuts with sweaters, scarves, tights - anything warm browns, oranges and greens. I really love getting dressed in autumn!
Do you have any favorite memories associated with autumn: Many, although not one in particular. Where I'm from originally (Rome) autumn is still relatively warm, and when I moved to England I was mesmerised by 'proper autumn'. I remember how much I loved the smell of fireplaces in the street, the soft lights, the taste of spiced things I wasn't very familiar with. I guess I associate these to my early months in London, when I'd just started to build a life I'd end up being very happy with.
Are there any hobbies that you participate more in during autumn: Not really.
Do you celebrate Halloween at all: I do by decorating the house, dressing up and going to Halloween events, but not really by giving away sweets and stuff.
If yes to above, do you have a favorite costume/cosplay that you wore and/or made: Once me and my friend Benedetta dressed as Edgar Allan Poe (her) and a raven (me) for a Poe-themed Halloween party. Honestly, it was perfection.
Do you have any autumn traditions: London is a great place for ghost walks and I try to go to at least one every year. As I mentioned, it's a great way of learning about the history of the city and its buildings, and I'm a great history nerd. Plus, sometimes you really get those perfect autumn evenings, with fog and chilly weather...the London of the stereotype.
Do you have any fall-themed playlists: I have a Halloween jazz playlist, mainly for dinners with friends or when I'm cooking autumn-y things.

What kind of friend(s) are you searching for: Genuine interest in connecting (which doesn't mean comments on every post, I don't expect that at all), shared interests/values, respect. I should mention that sometimes I do friends' cuts, usually because I just haven't clicked with someone or because they never interact or never update (I'm talking months and years, I do appreciate life happens). This is simply because it makes me uncomfortable knowing someone can lurk and read about me, while I know nothing about them. Similarly, if we don't click no hard feelings.
What do you like to read about: People's everyday lives really, with everything that entails. I like that window into a reality that might be completely different from mine.

Anything else you'd want people to know: I'm Italian but I've been living in London for 16 years, which means pretty much my whole adult life - I mention this because sometimes it's a struggle to reconcile the culture I come from to the one I've become a part of, and I do write about it. I'm a professional fundraiser in the heritage and culture sector and it's genuinely my ikigai. My job reflects my passions and values, and I feel very lucky. Cultural activities and being social are probably how I spend most of my spare time, but I also enjoy time for myself reading, doing yoga, cycling.

I live in Denmark and mostly write about writing (I primarily write fanfiction at the moment, but for fandoms so small that they don't really have a fandom, some of them I'm literally the only person writing for it, so I talk less about the fandoms themselves and more about the writing experience, if that helps). I also write a lot about ballet (I'm a huge balletomane), some stuff about Danish culture and traditions, books I'm reading and I love historical fiction, especially queer literature from the 19th and early 20th century. Sometimes I squee about Takarazuka, an all-female theatre troupe from Japan, but it's rarer these days. Yes, it is and I am so happy and excited about it.
The temperatures are getting cooler, the leaves on the trees are changing maybe it's raining and in the morning there can be fog which I really enjoy when I walk my dog. In addition, it is the perfect season to make yourself comfortable on the couch, candles are lighted, you can wrap yourself in a blanket and drink a delicious cup of tea.

Autumn is my second favorite season. My favorite is spring when the temperatures slowly get warmer (but far from hot) and slowly nature wakes up and everything starts to bloom and grow.

Is your region approaching fall? If not, what season are you in: We don't get a strong fall in the desert. It is still very hot here. That said, we do have mountains a few hours by car away, and that is one place to experience it even when hot here.
Is Autumn your favorite season? If not, which one is: Yes! I long for a proper autumn with leaves and cool days and all of it. I am the biggest autumn nerd, and I just live in the wrong place (right now). I also really deeply dislike summer (it's unbelievably intense where I live), so I have pretty bad reverse SAD. As autumn arrives here, even if not the traditionally cool and beautiful kind that is in other places, it definitely eases a lot of my issues, so I appreciate it very much.
Are there any fall-time events you want to go to or have been to: I am going wine tasting in the higher elevations in 2 weeks and celebrate the wine harvest. I would definitely do more things if they arise. And I spent the first day of autumn in the mountains.

Yep! Although honestly with climate change, next week might bring another heat wave. Or a snowstorm. Who even knows anymore?

Is Autumn your favorite season? If not, which one is:

I think so. First of all my birthday is in it, lol. Also, I’m disabled and I always feel guilty in the summer that I don’t take enough advantage of the sun and nice days, so I like when it gets too cold to go out and I can stay inside without feeling like I’m missing out.

Are there any fall-time events you want to go to or have been to:

When I was younger/not disabled, apple picking was a tradition. I’m not a fan of eating apples raw, but now I always associate apple pies, crumbles, with the season.

Dewey’s 24-hour Readathon also has one of its events in October every year, so since I discovered the readathon I’m excited to spend a whole Saturday reading.

That it’s cooler without being actually cold, and the colours of the leaves.

Is Autumn your favorite season? If not, which one is: I do like this season. I miss the rain in the summer. I grew up in Seattle, and feel most at ease when it's cloudy and a bit wet.
