Container gardens and balcony gardens are awesome. Consider starting small with just a birdbath and a pot or two of flowers that will bloom a long time with little care (e.g. marigolds, petunias).

Consider recurring posts. They're good for maintaining activity, and they help pin down your main topics.

Date: 2024-04-29 05:26 am (UTC)How exciting! I'd enjoy reading about that.
I write about such things often. You might like my Ethnic Studies, Gender Studies, and Spirituality tags. If you look at my Serial Poetry page, you'll see that some series are anchored in different specific cultures and/or deal with mixed cultures.
Just as a recent example, "What Herbs Go Well" has some discussion about halal and haram foods, and how to handle that in a mixed-culture situation, when both group and individual standards can vary in the details. That's from the Rutledge thread of Polychrome Heroics with a cluster of Syrian refugees in Vermont.
Regarding safer spaces, I have entries on "Quiet Rooms" and "Shock Rooms." Other things like friendship rooms or QUILTBAG clubs are more scattered.
