The New Year Do you have any resolutions?: I avoid resolutions and think of soft goals, like "write more, draw more, read more." I compare this year to last year, and considering how little I did of it all last year, I feel pretty good this year. Are there any new books, music, games, shows, etc. that you want to dive into?: There are some new seasons of anime coming out, including Bungou Stray Dogs and the recent season of BNHA. Everything is on hold until I finish Detective Conan. (It'll be a while. uwu;; ) Are there any small or big events that you're planning for this year?: None at all. Any new interests/hobbies that you'd like to try out?: I would really like to learn to reliably knit. I know how to knit, but I can't actually do it and would like to change that. I'm also kinda interested in acrylic pouring, painting, and sculpting and looking to try them out this year. Hopefully. Did you accomplish your resolutions from last year?: I can't remember what they are and know I wrote them down somewhere. I probably accomplished a couple about crocheting, because I know I wanted to make gifts for my family last year and did manage to. What were your favorite memories from the past year?: I remember very little, and what I do remember are negative things. Do you have any new years traditions?: On NYE, my family has prime rib, and I marathon Thin Man movies. Is there anything you'd like to do more of in 2023?: Read more books, write more stories, crochet more things...
The New Friends What kind of friend(s) are you searching for?: Ideally, I look for relatively active users, whether posting or commenting; that's the main criterion. People who don't mind kaomojis, too. (´;ω;`) What do you like to read about?: personal lives, crafty and creative projects How often do you check your friends feed?: I check at least weekly, sometimes more. Do you have any deal-breakers?: the usual -phobics and anti-s, minors Do you mind reading about fandom?: If all someone posts about is fandom, then it's kind of boring to me. If it's every so often about fandom, then whatever. I don't mind. Especially if it's a fandom I'm somewhat familiar with or could get interested in. If so, what fandoms would you like to read about?: anime (BNHA, Detective Conan, Cardcaptor Sakura, Natsume Yuujinchou, Bungou Stray Dogs), kpop (EXO, Twice, Mamamoo)
Currently... Reading: Dracula Watching: Detective Conan, rewatching Who's the Murderer? (Chinese variety) Playing: missed messages, The Little Red Lie, The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess, Lollipop Chainsaw Thinking about: the dude I gotta try calling AGAIN Hobby/Interest: crochet, embroidery, doodling, vintage movies Planning for: Christmas gifts (If I don't figure them out soon, I will suffer from worse procrastination than usual.)
I crochet and embroider, so I like to make things for my family. This last Christmas, I made a scarf and sweater. The bigger the project, or the more complex the pattern, the longer it takes to make. (The sweater took me two years to complete, because I'd never made one with actual sleeves before. ;w;)
If you "just sew sweaters," I am beyond impressed. That takes a lot of time and talent! I have no luck with machines, and I dunno why. I'm okay with hand sewing, even aside from embroidery, but I would really like to learn to machine sew properly. I've been looking at embroidery/sewing machines, for apparel. (I've hand embroidered T-shirts and honestly hate it.)
I've been sewing for over 10 years, so making a sweater takes me just a little over an hour - can't go to the city and find a store to buy a nice one in that timeframe!
Two years ago I also bought an embroidery machine, because embroidering by hand on clothes just took a loooooong time every time (some of the things I made pictures of, which is certainly not everything I made with it!). I went to a store to try out several machines and I went for the Brother Innov-is V3 Limited Edition, because I can use large embroidery frames with that machine (I had saved up quite some money during the two years that I couldn't go on holiday because of covid :P). I noticed I'm using the 20x30 cm frame a lot! If you buy a sewing/embroidery combination machine, you can often only use the smaller frames (around 10x10 cm). And I really like embroidering skirts.
Ten years is a nice chunk of time to develop a skill. But still, producing something within a couple hours is impressive. By making it yourself, you get exactly what you want or at least can't blame anyone else about its construction if something's off. ;;w;;
Those embroidered skirts are gorgeous! I love the black-on-black one. Very chic. I was looking at Brother machines, actually. It's a name I recognize, at least, and they seem like a trustworthy brand. For my needs, I don't think I need one that works in a large frame. (I'm not that ambitious yet.)
I can't knit, either. I know how, in theory, but in practice it just...doesn't work. I'm also bad with counting and remembering, so I lose my place very easily and just take apart what I've done to redo it. Not very efficient.
Final Fantasy VIII was my first game on the playstation and I will forever love FFX. I want to play more games but at the Moment I am stuck with AC Valhalla. :)
You sound like a nice and lovely person, would you mind if I add you?
I've always liked the overall look and designs of Final Fantasy, but I've not played a single game. ;w; I'll watch my brother play, instead, and just enjoy the story like a [really long] movie. Same with Valhalla. He plays more in general than I do, so I know if I want to play it by watching his gameplay. My list of games here haven't been touched in about a month; I kind of cycle focused interests, and video games just aren't appealing right now. (And that's why it took me literal years to finish KH2.)
I don't mind at all, if you add me! My profile and guestbook have some more basics you can check out as well as fill out, on the guestbook post. c:
Final Fantasy VIII was the first game my brother played on the Playstation. He had a book about the game, so I always sat next to him and read to him what he had to do. That's actually how we played all the Final Fantasy games. The same was happening for HALO. I loved watching him play. :>
Nothing like sibling bonding over games. uwu I liked watching my brother play HALO, too. He's tried getting me to play co-op, but I like going off to do my own thing and fight kamikaze-style, which isn't the best in a strategy game... Some games are just better to watch than to play, I think.
I played co-op with my brother, too. But only the easiest version because I am not a good gamer. Loved to play with him online. I miss those times a lot.
If I absolutely had to choose, I'd play co-op rather than online, but I honestly don't like playing with other people. Especially if they're people I don't know [and can't read, I guess?]. I'd never make it as a pro gamer.
