Thinking day to day, what do you normally listen to: Whatever I'm feeling at the time! If I'm obsessed with a particular band/artist, I'll keep a playlist of my favorite songs of theirs on rotation. If I'm writing a fic, I usually listen to vaporwave/chill/DnB, something calm and not distracting. Or I'll put on the fic's fanmix and jam to that. When I work out, I listen to upbeat stuff, usually Jpop/Kpop.

Thinking day to day, what do you normally listen to: Lots of stuff! I think most of my favourite music could be roughly classified as some kind of rock. However, I also enjoy some metal, pop, rap, and even the occasional country song. In general, I will give anything a try (with a few exceptions).
If different from the question above, what are you currently into: Well, about 10 or 11 months ago, I discovered a band called Derina Harvey Band, who do a mix of Celtic Rock and traditional Newfoundland folk. (Newfoundland is a small island in the East of Canada, if you're not familiar). Through this band, I discovered a lot more of above-mentioned Newfoundland trad music and that's what I've been obsessed since then.
Do you listen to music to study, exercise, or work: Well, I am not doing any studying right now, and I work in a shared office so no music listening there. I do listen to music on my commute to work and when I take my daily walk though. I also generally have music on at home, whatever I am currently doing. Unless, of course, I am listening to a podcast or watching a movie/TV, duh ;)
What platform do you use to listen to music: I mostly use Spotify, but I also listen to the radio quite a bit.
What language do you prefer your music: Most of what I listen to tends to be in English or German (my native language) but I am not opposed to any language as long as the song sounds good. While I do not know that much of/about it, I think K-Pop is nice and Korean sounds pretty, for example.
Is there a musician you'd like to meet? Why: Derina Harvey, of the above-mentioned band. She seems really kind and nice, and I have actually had some interactions with her through social media. Sadly, she mostly tours within Canada and I'm 4,000 km away. Holding out hope that she'll eventually come to Europe someday!
Do you sing and/or play an instrument: I do sing a lot, though not in any "professional" way, I'm not good enough for that. I'm not horrible either and I have shared a few songs I've sang on my DW before, but that's the furthest I will go. I don't play any instruments though I would love to learn the acoustic guitar or the fiddle but my coordination is probably too bad for either.
Do you have a least favorite genre: I am not particularly into Jazz, brutal Death Metal, German folk music or hardcore techno. Or anything with super offensive lyrics, obviously. No shade on anyone who likes the genres I mentioned in the first sentence, they are just not my taste ♥
Do you make playlists? If so, do you share: I have a lot of playlists on Spotify, for example I make one of my favourite songs of the year, have been doing so since 2016. They tend to be huge, like 800-1,000 songs per year.
Name 3 songs you recommend:

What's a song that gets stuck in your head, that you may not necessarily like: OMG, there is this completely nonsensical song my one co-worker keeps playing that gets stuck with me every.single.time! It's called "Mein Lieblingstier ist die Bratwurst" ["My favourite animal is the sausage"...and no, it isn't supposed to make sense]. It's really just a parody of German folk music but OMG it's so catchy (and so silly).
What does music mean to you: Everything! Music has lifted me up when I was down on the ground, it's always been there like a friend, it has literally saved my life before, even if that probably sounds weird. It carries so many good memories, I've made friends through it, seen new places by going to concerts in other cities, and it's helped with my mental health and even made me more confident. On a less heavy note, it's also just fun to listen to :)
Name some songs that get you excited or that cheer you up: "Hand Clap" by Fitz & the Tantrums is one. It's so catchy!

Is there a song that represents how you feel or your stance on life: Good question! I am sure there are quite a few, but right on the spot I can't think of any, of course. Lol. I might come back to you on this one.
Do you dress similar to the genre you listen to: No. First off, I listen to way too many genres for that, and while I do love gothic clothing style, and even that 2000s emo/scene style (yes, unironically), I would personally find it too constrictive to only dress in one certain way. That's just me though, I don't care when other people do so.

Thinking day to day, what do you normally listen to:

90% of the time, I enjoy listening to alternative rock. I also like music with a classical influence.

If different from the question above, what are you currently into:

I'm trying to listen to bands that are supporting headline acts I'm seeing this Summer. For example, I'm currently listening to Royal Blood because they are supporting Muse.

Do you listen to music to study, exercise, or work:

Primarily to relax, sometimes when I'm travelling or exercising.

What platform do you use to listen to music: (ex Spotify, Youtube Music etc.)

Spotify. I know it's problematic, but I'm yet to transfer to another platform.

What language do you prefer your music:

I don't really prefer my music to have a language, but I find it easier to understand in English.

Is there a musician you'd like to meet? Why:

I'd like to meet Matt Bellamy one day, as I have been a Muse fan since 2002.

Do you sing and/or play an instrument:

Nope! My husband is a musician and can play pretty much anything. I tried guitar about 20 years ago and couldn't get into it. I might try playing piano one day though.

Do you have a least favorite genre: (Please be considerate with this one)

Nah, I am pretty open minded.

Do you make playlists? If so, do you share:

Yes, I do make playlists on spotify. I don't share them generally, but when I got married recently I made a playlist that people could add to, and it was really fun!

Name 3 songs you recommend:

If you like melodic alternative rock, then my faves are:

Muse - Sunburn
Radiohead - Street Spirit
Jeff Buckley - Mojo Pin

My music taste is stuck in the 90's/00's, but I am at least trying to expand my tastes.

I also have a playlist where I keep new music I find every year. My 2022/2023 playlist has Gigi Perez (sounds like Jeff Buckley), Fontaines DC, The Snuts, Glass Animals, Years & Years, Rina Sawayama, The Weeknd, Royal Blood.

Jimmy Eat World - The Middle. It kept me going as a teenager going through hard times!

What's a song that gets stuck in your head, that you may not necessarily like:

Heat Waves - Glass Animals. I do actually like that song though.

What does music mean to you:

It means a lot! As a teenager, it really helped me to access creativity, find good friends and see a better life for myself than the one that was laid before me. Now it gives me nostalgia, and I enjoy finding out about new artists and genres. I actively push myself to get out of my music habits and remain open-minded, and I enjoy pop, r&b, rap, classical etc now. I used to be a bit of a music snob, and I think that is sad because I missed out on so much good music!

Name some songs that get you excited or that cheer you up:

The Weeknd - Blinding Lights got me through lockdown. I'd love to see him live.

Do you have any songs or genre that relax you:

Classical music is always good for that! Jeff Buckley's "Grace" is always relaxing to me.

Is there a song that represents how you feel or your stance on life:

That is a big question! I guess "Feeling Good" by Nina Simone (though I generally listen to the Muse version because Muse).

Do you dress similar to the genre you listen to:

Ha ha ha, yes I do. I got into the 00's indie/alternative rock trend of wearing mostly monochrome with pops of colour (think White Stripes) and haven't really changed my style. I have tried to push out of it but I always come back to the same thing. XD It works well for my job/life.

I'm close to finishing my PhD, which was very specific (art/science), so I am experimenting with different genres and subjects. I've joined some book clubs, and am currently reading a non-fiction book about the beauty industry.

How often do you check your friends feed: Most days, if I'm not run off my feet.

What kind of friend(s) are you searching for: People who inspire me to get better and are getting better themselves. Also people who match my energy! I'm extroverted, lonely and I often feel like people around me don't want to spend as much time with me. Also while I don't need comments on everything, it'd be nice to at least chat semi frequently and interact. I also want to be around people who are able to try and handle problems diplomatically and peacefully, able to see the humanity in others or to find common ground.
What do you like to read about: Life, hobbies, what you're studying/practicing, fandom things, but mostly I just want their to be an element of yourself in there so I can get to know you. But I also don't really like fetishization or sensationalization or mockery of said heavy subject matter either nor do I think free speech is an excuse, so I also don't get along with people like this. (And for fandom nerds, I do count antishippers and proshippers as falling under these umbrellas). Also lots of talks of religion and politics. I'm also anti AI and anti self diagnosing.
