The New Year
Do you have any resolutions?: upgrade my physical existence

Any new interests/hobbies that you'd like to try out?: nature crafts and felting
What were your favorite memories from the past year?: Universal Studios - riding roller coasters with my sister and laughing with my nephews
Do you have any new years traditions?: Swiss fondue
Is there anything you'd like to do more of in 2023?: socializing (not easy!)

The New Friends
What kind of friend(s) are you searching for?: I'm a friendly weirdo, I'd like to know other friendly weirdos
What do you like to read about?: other peoples lives
How often do you check your friends feed?: every few days, typically
Do you have any deal-breakers?: I'm pretty open minded, but if we don't vibe then we don't vibe
Do you mind reading about fandom?: I can just scroll past it

Currently...
Reading: it's hard to focus on a book, I do skim magazines sometimes haha
Watching: Twilight Zone marathon! And rewatching Fargo series because I loooove Fargo
Playing: Sims Freeplay, SimCity Buildit, Majora's Mask
Thinking about: I feel like I'm a brain in a jar constantly thinking and over-thinking, yet sometimes there's just a muzak loop playing in my head
Hobby/Interest: mostly Sims and TV and my dog, also astrology and philosophy and witchy stuff
Planning for: being a more physical human

it's not a super huge interest of mine right now, but the second game is one of my big favorites.

oh, no, that's fine. it's hard for me to be clearer about what I mean by what is on my profile without it being super wordy, so I kept it simple because I like my profile to stay... relatively simple. I'm also way more ok when it's clarified what the entry is about in that case or if a cut is used. not saying you have to do that, though. so, no worries! I guess I oughta add something to my pinned journal entry for clarification.

The New Year
Do you have any resolutions?:
No, I haven't done resolutions in a number of years. If there's something I want to change or improve upon, then I'm usually already doing it. If I'm not, then the new year usually isn't enough to motivate me.
Are there any new books, music, games, shows, etc. that you want to dive into?:
I would like to watch more TV series in general, like Inventing Anna, The Dropout, and so on. I usually prefer films due to the comparative lack of time commitment, but I know that there's a ton of great shows that I'm missing out on.
Are there any small or big events that you're planning for this year?:
Going to Australia.
Any new interests/hobbies that you'd like to try out?:
Boudeoir photography. I already love photography, but I've been too shy to dive into this particular style. I've always loved it, though, and I would love helping other women feel beautiful if I were to photograph them this way. I'd also like to explore burlesque and belly dance.
Did you accomplish your resolutions from last year?:
I didn't have resolutions last year, either!
What were your favorite memories from the past year?:
Being with my parents in Chicago and meeting my favourite Aussie.
Do you have any new years traditions?:
Not really.
Is there anything you'd like to do more of in 2023?:
Read, meet new people, explore new recipes, make more floral arrangements if money allows.

The New Friends
What kind of friend(s) are you searching for?:
Honestly, any, as long as they're 18+ and don't go against any deal breakers. I'm capable of getting along with most people. However, it would be fun to meet others who play the same games that I do (Final Fantasy, especially FFXIV, and Animal Crossing). Any new friends should also be kink-friendly. I've yet to write about the D/s aspect of my romantic life, but it could potentially come up in the future, and I'd like to feel comfortable writing about it if so.
What do you like to read about?:
Anything! I mean it. I'm perfectly happy to read about people's daily lives, projects, thoughts, reviews... whatever tickles their fancy. Enthusiasm is the most appealing thing, not the topic itself!
How often do you check your friends feed?:
It depends. I'd say every few days at least, even if I don't comment on every entry.
Do you have any deal-breakers?:
The usual bigotry stances. However, I'm aware that most people wouldn't consider themselves a bigot, so I'll simply say that we probably won't get along if you're socially right-wing (I don't agree with fiscal right-wing politics either, but I have been friends with those types before).
Do you mind reading about fandom?:
No, although if we don't share the fandom, I probably won't comment as I likely won't feel that I have anything to contribute.
If so, what fandoms would you like to read about?:
Any, but I'm more likely to engage if it's about Final Fantasy, Harry Potter, Fringe, The X-Files... anything listed in my interests, really.

Currently...
Reading: Nothing, but I'd like to start The Drowned World by J. G. Ballard soon.
Watching: Season 2 of Emily in Paris.
Playing: FFXIV.
Thinking about: How I need to grab something to eat, but my cat's sitting on my arm and I don't want to disturb him.
Hobby/Interest: Baking cookies.
Planning for: Finding a new job.

The New Year
Do you have any resolutions?: I avoid resolutions and think of soft goals, like "write more, draw more, read more." I compare this year to last year, and considering how little I did of it all last year, I feel pretty good this year.
Are there any new books, music, games, shows, etc. that you want to dive into?: There are some new seasons of anime coming out, including Bungou Stray Dogs and the recent season of BNHA. Everything is on hold until I finish Detective Conan. (It'll be a while. uwu;; )
Are there any small or big events that you're planning for this year?: None at all.
Any new interests/hobbies that you'd like to try out?: I would really like to learn to reliably knit. I know how to knit, but I can't actually do it and would like to change that. I'm also kinda interested in acrylic pouring, painting, and sculpting and looking to try them out this year. Hopefully.
Did you accomplish your resolutions from last year?: I can't remember what they are and know I wrote them down somewhere. I probably accomplished a couple about crocheting, because I know I wanted to make gifts for my family last year and did manage to.
What were your favorite memories from the past year?: I remember very little, and what I do remember are negative things.
Do you have any new years traditions?: On NYE, my family has prime rib, and I marathon Thin Man movies.
Is there anything you'd like to do more of in 2023?: Read more books, write more stories, crochet more things...

The New Friends
What kind of friend(s) are you searching for?: Ideally, I look for relatively active users, whether posting or commenting; that's the main criterion. People who don't mind kaomojis, too. (´;ω;`)
What do you like to read about?: personal lives, crafty and creative projects
How often do you check your friends feed?: I check at least weekly, sometimes more.
Do you have any deal-breakers?: the usual -phobics and anti-s, minors
Do you mind reading about fandom?: If all someone posts about is fandom, then it's kind of boring to me. If it's every so often about fandom, then whatever. I don't mind. Especially if it's a fandom I'm somewhat familiar with or could get interested in.
If so, what fandoms would you like to read about?: anime (BNHA, Detective Conan, Cardcaptor Sakura, Natsume Yuujinchou, Bungou Stray Dogs), kpop (EXO, Twice, Mamamoo)

Currently...
Reading: Dracula
Watching: Detective Conan, rewatching Who's the Murderer? (Chinese variety)
Playing: missed messages, The Little Red Lie, The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess, Lollipop Chainsaw
Thinking about: the dude I gotta try calling AGAIN
Hobby/Interest: crochet, embroidery, doodling, vintage movies
Planning for: Christmas gifts (If I don't figure them out soon, I will suffer from worse procrastination than usual.)

The New Year
Do you have any resolutions?: More like "goals".
Are there any new books, music, games, shows, etc. that you want to dive into?: Waiting diligently for the new Baldur's Gate game to come out and Severence Season 2.
Are there any small or big events that you're planning for this year?: This year I am planning on getting a puppy. Woohoo.
Any new interests/hobbies that you'd like to try out?: No, but I very much want to stick to the hobbies I currently have and improving them! Unless you count training my future new dog a new hobby.
Did you accomplish your resolutions from last year?: (If not, that's okay. Just skip this one) Some!
What were your favorite memories from the past year?: Honestly, my family and I spent half the year sick. Either from Covid, the flu, or a cold. This year flew by and I don't feel like I accomplished anything big that I wanted to. Hopefully 2023 will be different!
Do you have any new years traditions?: Nope, but my kids stayed up until midnight for the first time. And they were less tired than my partner and I were!
Is there anything you'd like to do more of in 2023?: I want to feel more accomplished.

The New Friends
What kind of friend(s) are you searching for?: Active people who post about their lives.
What do you like to read about?: I love reading about people's lives, no matter how mundane they think they are. Long winded entries are my fav. I'm very anti-one liner entries.
How often do you check your friends feed?: Daily.
Do you have any deal-breakers?: No Trumpers or anti-vaxxers. Also, looking for consistency. Pet peeve is when people add me and then never bother posting again (or pop up every two months). I've been on LJ/DW since I was 15 years old in 2001. I am consistent and am looking for others to be the same.
Do you mind reading about fandom?: I do like fandom, but I don't have a huge interest in reading about it on DW.
If so, what fandoms would you like to read about?: Not looking for fandom friends. Occasional posts about something you read, played, or watched, sure. But I mostly love to read about people's lives, kids, relationships, jobs, etc.

Currently...
Reading: Harrow the Ninth
Watching: Alice in Borderlands Season 2
Playing: Nothing right now, maybe occasional Sims 4.
Thinking about: My kids (4 and 6).
Hobby/Interest: Planner things, photography, watercolor, animation, dog training.
Planning for: A dog!

The New Year
Do you have any resolutions?: Not really. If I make any, I forget them before I can ever get to try to fulfilling them. Oh, but I would like to cut down even more on alcohol. I'm not a big drinker and in no means have any problems with drinking, but I'd love to be as close to sober as possible. Just trying to live as healthy as possible! Get my diet in order, too etc.
Are there any new books, music, games, shows, etc. that you want to dive into?: I really want to read more. I've always loved books, but I'm such a slow reader with difficulties to concentrate (hello ADHD) and lots of other things on my plate. I loved reading The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart by Holly Ringland last year, though, so I'm definitely planning to read her second novel this year!
I would also love to catch up on a lot of series and movies that my partner isn't interested in, but I rarely have the chance to watch anything on my own.
Are there any small or big events that you're planning for this year?: Just looking forward to meeting my niece (due next week!) and seeing more of my nephew as well as the rest of my family.
Any new interests/hobbies that you'd like to try out?: I'm often thinking about trying out some other crafts than knitting, but that's my go-to.
Did you accomplish your resolutions from last year?: (If not, that's okay. Just skip this one) I don't think I made any. An ongoing resolution is to just keep going, stay afloat, so yeah I accomplished that.
What were your favorite memories from the past year?: Nothing special, just staying up late in summer and well, summer in general.
Do you have any new years traditions?: I usually want to stay up to watch fireworks, even though I'm more and more against fireworks.
Is there anything you'd like to do more of in 2023?: Ah, I already mentioned earlier that I want to read more! I also tend to struggle with taking photos if there's nothing in particular to photograph, but looking back, I'm always glad over even those mundane shots.

The New Friends
What kind of friend(s) are you searching for?: Open-minded people who post fairly often and share stuff about them and their life. I don't really have many friends IRL so I love getting to know people all over the world. Always a plus if you post photos, but it's understandable if you don't (I'm just a very visual person and love to see how people look like and where they live and all that.)
What do you like to read about?: Personal stuff, not necessarily anything private (if I post something TMI or such, I put it behind a cut. I like to be open and honest) but anything from the daily life. I often feel like I complain a lot but my journal is my favorite place to vent, and expect nothing less from anyone else.
How often do you check your friends feed?: Pretty much every day on weekdays (while I'm at work, haha) but if I have the chance, I may check in on weekends as well.
Do you have any deal-breakers?: The usual (right-wing, racist, homophobes etc.) but also very religious people. I don't mind if you share about your practices or what you believe in, but people who think that their views are the only right ones really turn me off.
Do you mind reading about fandom?: No, but I tend to skip them. I'm more interested in real life stuff.
If so, what fandoms would you like to read about?: -

Currently...
Reading: Uhh, I do have a library book waiting but I haven't had the time to start on it before I'll have to return it, or at least renew the loan...
Watching: We just started watching Newsroom with my partner as there's nothing else really. While working, (and I have the time) I love to watch knitting podcasts on YouTube.
Playing: The Sims 4
Thinking about: I should make myself a cup of tea! Have been thinking about that for an hour already, but yeah...Hello ADHD.
Hobby/Interest: Always knitting! Occasionally photography and whatnot. Thanks to (or because of) ADHD I may be very interested in something random all of a sudden, but it may wane equally fast. For the past years I've been more or less into: coloring (adult coloring books and watercolors), plants (like indoor greens but why not gardening as well), going out for walks (with my DSLR), languages, science...
Planning for: Nothing big! I prefer to take every day at a time and can't really even make bigger plans.

The New Year
Do you have any resolutions?: Not really - I'd rather set myself some goals when I really feel I need to rather than around an arbitrary line, as nice as it is to have a fresh start.
Are there any new books, music, games, shows, etc. that you want to dive into?: My to-read pile is huge so definitely new books! Currently I'd like to re-read Orland by Virginia Woolf as I'm going to see a play adaptation next month. Speaking of plays, I'd definitely like to go back being a more active theatregoer.
Are there any small or big events that you're planning for this year?: Summer holidays and potential short breaks to Italy to see my family (I like in the UK but I'm from Rome).
Any new interests/hobbies that you'd like to try out?: I always say I'd like to pick up Spanish again as I've forgotten everything since studying it at uni...but not sure it'll ever happen.
Did you accomplish your resolutions from last year?: (If not, that's okay. Just skip this one) Nope, didn't have any!
What were your favorite memories from the past year?: Spending Easter break here with my partner, a weekend in Paris with friends.
Do you have any new years traditions?: Nope.
Is there anything you'd like to do more of in 2023?: I said this in my end of year survey - energy. The last couple of years drained me mentally and physically, and last year I felt like an empty glass most of the time.

The New Friends
What kind of friend(s) are you searching for?: People with similar interests who are genuinely interested in connecting, and most of all that have no interest in drama.
What do you like to read about?: I like reading about people's everyday life, it's that simple. I also do like an intro post, as sometimes it's hard to understand what's going on arriving mid-action!
How often do you check your friends feed?: Daily, although it's harder when I'm in the office (2-3 days a week currently)
Do you have any deal-breakers?: The usual - racism, homophobia, xenophobia, religious extremism. Oh, and Brexit, for obvious reasons.
Do you mind reading about fandom?: I'm not into any fandom so if that's all you write about chances are we won't click. I don't mind the occasional post obviously, although I rarely read as I wouldn't have much to contribute.
If so, what fandoms would you like to read about?: n/a

Currently...
Reading: English Food - A People's History by Diane Purkiss and The Empire by Michael Ball.
Watching: White Lotus (I rarely watch tv/tv series, but my friend/flatmate wanted to watch this and I passively agreed...)
Playing: Arctic Monkey's latest album, out of curiosity (not liking it so far lol!)
Thinking about: Clearing out my lounge/gym clothes later this afternoon
Hobby/Interest: Same as ever - art, culture, things to do in London, reading...
Planning for: My return to work on Thursday after holidays.

>>Boudeoir photography. I already love photography, but I've been too shy to dive into this particular style. I've always loved it, though, and I would love helping other women feel beautiful if I were to photograph them this way.<<

That sounds awesome. I like photography, but most of what I do is nature stuff.

>> I'd also like to explore burlesque and belly dance. <<

Burlesque is a challenging form. I don't know if it has an easy end. Belly dance is intricate at the top end, but it's actually easy at the bottom end where you are just doing one or two things at a time. It's mostly made of isolations. You can literally just stand there in a nice pose doing one move and it's dancing. Also great exercise. There was a TV program for a while called Shimmy that had great lessons. Me, I learned in bits and pieces at Renaissance faires.

>>Any new friends should also be kink-friendly. I've yet to write about the D/s aspect of my romantic life, but it could potentially come up in the future, and I'd like to feel comfortable writing about it if so.<<

I've written kink, if you're into reading it.
